​​Students in grade four through grade eight must enter and leave school in uniform. Students in kindergarten through grade three must wear their gym uniform to and from school on physical education days. Please note the personal appearance addendum to the dress code that will be coming home the first week of school. Issues addressed will be makeup, jewelry, hair and nails among others.

2016-2017 SCHOOL UNIFORM​ DRESS CODE​​

  • Hair feathers are not permitted to be worn.
  • Spandex/yoga pants are not permitted to be worn. This includes dress-down days as well as gym days.
  • Dress-down passes can only be used on the last Friday of each month. The first Friday of each month is always designated as a “free” dress-down day.

GIRLS – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 3​

  • Uniform plaid jumper with choice of short or long sleeve plain white pique uniform style polo shirt (no scalloped edging, piping, pockets, or designer style)
  • Uniform plaid culotte with flap with choice of short or long sleeve plain white pique uniform style polo shirt (no scalloped edging, piping, pockets, or designer style) or short or long sleeve plain white uniform style oxford shirt (no designer style)
  • Uniform style khaki walking shorts or khaki uniform style pants with plain navy blue short or long sleeve pique polo shirt (no scalloped edging, piping, pockets, or designer style); cargo shorts/pants are not permitted
  • Navy or white knee socks or navy or white tights; white, navy, or khaki anklets; no athletic socks; no low cut, no show style socks
  • The length of all jumpers, culottes, and shorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. This policy applies when a student is in uniform and also on designated dress-down days.​

(Khaki items are not the light colored khaki, but the darker colored khaki)

BOYS – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 3

  • Uniform style khaki walking shorts or uniform style khaki pants with plain navy blue short or long sleeve pique uniform style polo shirt (designer style shirts are not permitted); cargo shorts/pants are not permitted
  • Navy, black, or khaki socks; no athletic socks; no low cut, no show style socks

(Khaki items are not the light colored khaki, but the darker colored khaki)

GIRLS – GRADE​S 4 TO 8

  • Uniform plaid double kick pleat skirt; uniform plaid kilt skirt; or uniform plaid culotte with flap with choice of short or long sleeve plain white pique shirt (no scalloped edging, piping, pockets, or designer style) or short or long sleeve uniform style plain white oxford shirt (no designer style)
  • Uniform style khaki walking shorts or uniform style khaki pants with short or long sleeve plain navy blue pique polo shirt (no scalloped edging, piping, pockets, or designer style)
  • Navy or white knee socks or navy or white tights; white, navy, or khaki anklets; no athletic socks; no low cut, no show style socks
  • The length of all skirts, kilt shirts, culottes, and shorts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee. This policy applies when a student is in uniform and also on designated dress-down days.

BOYS – GRADES 4 TO 8

  • Uniform style khaki walking shorts or uniform style khaki pants with short or long sleeve plain navy blue pique polo shirt (designer style shirts are not permitted); cargo style shorts or pants are not permitted
  • Navy, black, or khaki socks; no athletic socks; no low cut, no show style socks

FOOTWEAR – ALL STUDENTS – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 8​

  • Students in grades kindergarten through grade eight are expected to wear appropriate school type shoes—NO tennis shoes, boots of any type, clogs, sandals, flip flops, heels higher than two inches, or Heelies are permitted to be worn in school. Snow boots are permitted during the winter months, but must be removed once the student arrives at school (change of shoes should be sent to school for the student to change in to).

SWEATERS & Sweatshirts – ALL STUDENTS – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 8

  • Sweaters are an option. However, if a child chooses to wear a sweater, it must be a plain navy blue cardigan style sweater purchased from Schoolbelles Uniform Company or a store that offers the plain navy blue cardigans.

  • At the direction of our Superintendent of Catholic Schools, “hoodies/sweats” are no longer permitted to be part of the Dress Code. This includes the red St. Sebastian logo sweatshirts worn by our middle school students.​

GYM UNIFORM – ALL STUDENTS – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 8

  • Students are expected to dress in a gym uniform for physical education class. The uniforms may be purchased from our school’s line of spirit wear (sheet enclosed) or a plain white or red tee shirt

  • (during the warmer months) a plain white or red sweatshirt (during colder months) and plain red or black gym shorts (warmer months) or plain red or plain black sweatpants (colder months) may be worn. Students are also permitted to wear shirts promoting St. Sebastian Regional School (such as cheerleading, club shirts, our sports teams, etc.).
  • Short shorts “are not permitted” to be worn for gym class. All shorts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.
  • Tennis shoes and white athletic socks are required as part of the gym uniform.


THE INFRACTION POLICY WILL APPLY FOR STUDENTS NOT ADHERING TO THE DRESS CODE POLICY.​

On dress down days, the student must be in appropriate attire. No spaghetti straps, tank tops or sleeveless shirts, open-toed or backless shoes are permitted.

Children out of uniform may not participate in physical education classes. This is an unexcused absence. After three unexcused absences, children will report to the principal.​

Makeup/Accessories Addendum

All Grades

  • Hair color is to be natural.
  • Boys’ hair length is to be no longer than the top of their shirt collar.
  • Hairstyles of the students are not to be "distracting" to the classroom environment and the learning process. This will include the "Mohawk" hairstyle favored by many in the summer months. Hair color needs to be as close to natural as possible. No feathers, beads, streaks, dye, or other coloring please!

K-8 Nails

  • Clear or light shade polish is permitted; fake or press-on nails are not permitted.

K-8 Je​welry

  • Girls may wear stud and small- hooped earrings; dangling earrings are not permitted.
  • Watches and religious necklaces are acceptable
  • Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
  • No jewelry is permitted to be worn during gym class.

Makeup

  • K-5: Makeup is not permitted to be worn.
  • 6-8: Makeup is to be modest and natural in color
